As you may know, Jeep discontinued the Cherokee last year, leaving buyers with only the Compass in this category. Fortunately, the American automaker's small SUV has significantly improved over the years. Let's just say we're far from the Compass introduced in 2007.

There aren't many new updates for the 2025 Jeep Compass, as the model already performs well in its current form. Most changes revolve around options and standard features for certain versions. The Jeep Compass remains one of the most appealing models for nature lovers, especially in its Trailhawk version, whose off-road driving capabilities are very impressive.

Range and Price

The 2025 Jeep Compass lineup consists of five different versions, starting with the Sport model, which serves as the entry-level version. However, it's far from a basic model, as it offers quite a comprehensive standard equipment package. This is also why the starting price is $35,490, slightly higher than the competition. Next is the North version with a base price of $42,390. The Altitude version offers a more refined finish and several technology options for $46,995. If you're more inclined to venture off the beaten path, you can opt for the Trailhawk version, starting at $49,390. Finally, the Limited version tops the range with a price of $49,440.

Category and Competition

The Jeep Compass belongs to one of the most fiercely competitive segments, second only to pickup trucks. Compact SUVs are extremely popular, and some of its rivals have rock-solid reputations. As we know, the Compass's reputation hasn't always been as strong as it is today, which is why the model isn't as popular. However, the Jeep Compass has some great qualities, and it's a model you should definitely consider.

Rivals: Chevrolet Equinox, Dodge Hornet, Ford Bronco Sport, Ford Escape, GMC Terrain, Honda CR-V, Hyundai Tucson, Kia Sportage, Mazda CX-5, Mazda CX-50, Mitsubishi Outlander, Nissan Rogue, Subaru Forester, Toyota RAV4, Volkswagen Tiguan.

Design and Technology

I must admit, I have a soft spot for Jeep's vehicle design, and the Compass is no exception. It's a head-turner on the road. It also comes in attractive colors, and the decals that come with the Trailhawk version make it even more visually appealing. In my opinion, it's one of the best-looking compact SUVs currently available on the market.

Its interior is modern, spacious, and very comfortable. It also boasts one of the best multimedia systems on the market with UConnect5. The driving position is perfect, and the finish quality is impeccable. It's a model where you feel good, offering an overall experience that's well above average. I wouldn't go so far as to say it feels like a luxury vehicle, but let's just say Jeep has done an excellent job with the Compass's design, both inside and out.

Performance

The 2025 Jeep Compass offers just one mechanical option, and that's a good thing. The American automaker's small SUV is powered by a turbocharged 2.0-liter 4-cylinder engine that delivers 200 horsepower and 221 lb-ft of torque. It's paired with an 8-speed automatic transmission, and 4x4 drive is standard. It's important to note that this isn't just a simple all-wheel-drive system—the Jeep Compass's 4x4 system is particularly effective. As for fuel efficiency, it averages 9.9 L/100 km in the city and 7.4 L/100 km on the highway, which is quite good, especially for a vehicle of this size.

Weak Points

The price is a bit steep, regardless of the version. Jeep could have added at least one electrified version for 2025.

Strong Points

Definitely one of the most comfortable and spacious models in its category. The off-road capabilities of the Trailhawk version are breathtaking. The turbocharged 4-cylinder engine is well-balanced and offers a dynamic driving experience. Moreover, the American automaker's small SUV boasts one of the best multimedia systems on the market.

Signature Feature

Where the 2025 Jeep Compass stands out from the competition is clearly in terms of comfort and off-road driving.

Final Word

The model's reputation may not be as solid as that of its rivals, but the Jeep Compass is a vehicle that deserves serious consideration. The American automaker's small SUV is highly capable, and there's little to criticize about its overall experience. In fact, I would even say it's a very enjoyable vehicle, both in its driving dynamics and the use of its technologies, which is what makes it so appealing.
